What kind of church is Mercyview?

Mercyview is a growing, diverse, grace-filled faith community that is exploring what it means to live out the good news of Jesus in a great North American urban center. We are an evangelical Christian church committed to the historic Christian faith as lined out in the Nicene Creed. For a closer look at our beliefs, click here.

What kind of people come to Mercyview?

At Mercyview, you will find people of different ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, professions, and ethnicities. You will find people who grew up in the Tulsa area, as well as people who have moved here from different parts of the country. Spiritually, you will also encounter people who are in different places in their faith journey. Some are exploring the Christian faith for the first time. Some are returning to the church after some time away while others have spent much of their life in the church.

What if I don’t normally go to church?

You are the reason we started Mercyview! We seek to create multiple welcoming environments for those who are curious about God but have never felt comfortable in church. We meet in coffee shops, homes, and larger worship gatherings to experience Jesus in our lives. We also do our best to explain each element of these environments so that you don’t get lost along the way. We want Mercyview to be a place where you can learn, apply, and wrestle with who God is and what that means for your life.

Where do you meet?

We meet in homes to study the word of God, apply the Gospel to our lives, and pray for one another. We meet in various places to bless and serve the city through the ministry of mercy and justice. We also gather on Sundays to worship Jesus, experience the presence of God, and and to sit under the authority of His Word. In our worship gathering time, we are relaxed but focused. We aren’t flashy and we don’t believe people need big productions to connect with God. We follow a basic pattern of meeting together that is traced back to the early Church. We sing new and old songs. We corporately read Scripture and pray together. We teach through books of the Bible. We take communion weekly. We try to make all of our environments accessible to those who are new to the Christian faith, and at the same time, fresh for those who have been in the church for a long time.

Who leads Mercyview?

Mercyview is a Jesus-shepherded, elder-led, deacon-served, member-engaged church. We recognize that Jesus is our senior pastor – we join him in the work he is already doing in our midst.

What about my children?

Mercyview is a family-friendly environment. We believe that children are a blessing from God and the future of the church. We count it a privilege to serve our parents at Mercyview by teaching their children about Jesus and his grace. We currently provide childcare for ages 0-5, led by loving caregivers, for both our worship gatherings and our missional communities. You can find more information about Mercyview Kids here.

What are my next steps in getting connected?

There are a few next steps that would encourage you to take:

  1. We ask that you “Give us 6.” We believe that if you hang out with us for 6 weeks, you’ll have a pretty good idea of who we are and what we believe.
  2. Check out one of our Missional Communities. A missional community is a group of 8-12 people who share life and a common mission together.
  3. After you’ve had the chance to read more about us and what we believe, if you would like to meet with one of our leaders, drop us a note at info[at]mercyview.com and we’ll promptly connect you with one of them.
